கண்டியில் வன்முறைகளை ஈடுபட்டவர்கள் மீது பாதுகாப்புத் தரப்பினர் உரிய நடவடிக்கைகளை எடுக்காத நிலையில், இன்று வெள்ளிக்கிழமை தொழுகைக்காக பள்ளிவாசல்களுக்குச் செல்வதற்கு தாம் அச்சத்துடன் இருப்பதாக, முஸ்லிம்கள் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர்.

அல்-ஜசீரா செய்தி நிறுவனத்திடம் இதுபற்றிக் கருத்து வெளியிட்ட முஸ்லிம்கள் பலரும், ஊரடங்குச் சட்டம், அவசரகாலச்சட்டம் என்பன பிறப்பிக்கப்பட்ட போதிலும், முஸ்லிம்கள் மீதான தாக்குதல்கள் இடம்பெறுவதாக தெரிவித்துள்ளனர்.

“நான் அச்சத்துடன் வாழ்கிறேன்.இரவு முழுவதும் தூங்க முடியவில்லை. எமது வீட்டில் உள்ள ஆண்கள் அனைவரும், எமக்குப் பாதுகாப்பு அளிப்பதற்காக வெளியே நிற்கிறார்கள். நாங்கள் மட்டும் வீட்டுக்குள் இருக்கிறோம் என்று கண்டியைச் சேர்ந்த 25 வயதுடைய பாத்திமா ரிஸ்கா தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

“காவல்துறையினர் எமக்கு பாதுகாப்பு அளிக்கவில்லை. அவர்கள் நின்று கொண்டிருந்த போதே, பெரும்பாலான தாக்குதல்கள் நடத்தப்பட்டுள்ளன. அடுத்து என்ன நடக்கும் என்று எமக்குத் தெரியவில்லை.

வெள்ளிக்கழமை தொழுகையின் போது தாக்குதல் நடத்த பௌத்தர்கள் திட்டமிட்டுள்ளனர் என்று கண்டியில் உள்ள முஸ்லிம் மக்களிடையே, பரவலாகப் பேசப்படுகிறது.

அதனால் சிறப்பு ஏற்பாடுகள் முஸ்லிம்களால் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது, பாதுகாப்பை உறுதிப்படுத்துவதற்காக ஆண்கள் வெவ்வேறு நேரங்களில் தொழுகைகளில் ஈடுபடவுள்ளனர். பெண்களையும், குழந்தைகளையும் தனியாக வீட்டுக்கு வெளியே செல்வதும் தடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது” என்றும் அவர் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

அதேவேளை, இன்று வெள்ளிக்கிழமை தொழுகைகள் இடம்பெறும் என்பதால், வன்முறைகள் இடம்பெற்ற பகுதிகளில் உள்ள பள்ளிவாசல்களுக்கு பாதுகாப்பு அளிக்கப்படும் என்று பொலிஸார் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர்.

இன்று வெள்ளிக்கிழமை தொழுகைகள் இடம்பெறும் என்பதால், பதற்றம் ஏற்படக் கூடிய பகுதிகள் என்று நம்பப்படும் இடங்களிலுள்ள பள்ளிவாசல்கள் அனைத்திலும், பாதுகாப்பு படையினர் நிறுத்தப்பட்டு பாதுகாப்பு வழங்கப்படும்.

பாதுகாப்பு அமைப்புகளின் மூலம், புலனாய்வு அறிக்கைகள் பெறப்பட்டு வருகின்றன. அதன் அடிப்படையில் நடவடிக்கைகள் எடுக்கப்படும்.

நாளாந்த செயற்பாடுகளை முன்னெடுப்பதற்கு எவரும் அச்சம் கொள்ள வேண்டியதில்லை.” என்றும் அவர் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

இதேவேளை, வடக்கிலும் உள்ள பள்ளிவாசல்களில் இராணுவத்தினர் பாதுகாப்புக்காக நிறுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளனர் என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

Sri Lankan Muslims say they fear being attacked during Friday prayers by Sinhalese Buddhists, amid accusations that security forces are failing to take action against marauding mobs.

Despite a state of emergency and a curfew to curtail violence that broke out last weekend between Muslims and Buddhists in the central district of Kandy, concerns abound that attacks will continue in Sri Lanka.

"I am living in fear and could not sleep the whole night as all the men from my family have gone out to protect us and we are left in the home," Fathima Rizka, a 25-year-old from Kandy, told Al Jazeera.

"The police are not protecting us. They are just standing by while more attacks are being carried out … We don't know what will happen next."

On Thursday, the streets of most towns in Kandy were empty, except for police and soldiers. The violence and heavy security presence are largely limited to Sri Lanka's central hills.

Rizka said word is spreading among the Muslim community in Kandy that Buddhists are planning attacks in the area during Friday prayers.

"Special arrangements are being made by the community to ensure that there are men who will pray at a different time to ensure that women and children are not left vulnerably alone in their homes," she said.
